TCA grants TAO award for a new program!

Texas Commission on the Arts supports The Artist Outreach all year long with many grants for various programs.  TAO has now, been awarded a matching grant to help facilitate our program, Identity of Music: Song Creation.  Our music production staff teach high school students how to write and produce songs & lyrics while learning the cultural aspects of African-American and Hispanic ancestors and how they have contributed toward our modern music.  They will also learn about the emotional and social elements within music.

This program comes at an important time, as 2020 has been such a strong year of heightened awareness toward equity.  Identity of Music begins in November and will continue as an on-going program for high school students in Mesquite ISD.
